What is ESAAB?
The definition, scope, and architecture of the platform — in operational terms, without marketing.
ESAAB is a software platform for clinical supply automation and inventory management (WMS) for laboratories and healthcare networks, developed by the Chilean company Zettavision SpA. It records supply consumption at source, automates replenishment, assists receiving, and delivers traceability by batch and expiration date, integrating with ERP, logistics operators (3PL), and suppliers.

An operational layer for healthcare supply
ESAAB is a software platform that connects and automates the supply cycle for consumables in clinical laboratories and healthcare networks. Its purpose is to solve a concrete problem: in most laboratories, supply management lives in spreadsheets, emails, and manual validations that no one controls end-to-end, leading to stockouts, undetected expirations, and records that always lag behind actual operations.
Rather than replacing existing systems, ESAAB positions itself as an operational layer between the laboratory, the supplier, the logistics operator (3PL), and the ERP. It captures what is actually consumed, converts that consumption into replenishment, and leaves traceability for every movement by batch and expiration date.
An inventory engine at the core
At its core, ESAAB is a warehouse and inventory management system (WMS): it manages stock, locations, batches, and expiration dates. This foundation comes from Zettavision's barcode-based inventory product line, which includes warehouse modules, storeroom management (tool and asset control), and document management.
On top of this WMS engine, ESAAB adds the clinical supply automation layer — consumption at source, automated replenishment, and assisted receiving — tailored to the reality of a healthcare laboratory. That is why ESAAB can be described, depending on context, as a clinical WMS or as a supply automation platform: both descriptions refer to the same system.
ESAAB's WMS is not theoretical: it has been in production for years in mining, agro-industry, logistics, and healthcare companies in Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina. ESAAB SmartLab is the edition of that WMS built specifically for the clinical laboratory — not a brand-new product, but the maturation of a proven engine.
The problem isn't stock; it's friction
Laboratories typically don't fail due to lack of tools, but because of operational friction in supply management. ESAAB addresses five concrete pain points:
- Late consumption tracking Supplies are used before they're entered, and the system always lags behind reality. ESAAB captures consumption at the point of use.
- Manual replenishment Spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls depend on people. ESAAB converts consumption into prioritized replenishment requirements automatically.
- Slow receiving Double counting and labels that don't match. ESAAB assists receiving with batch and expiration validation.
- Parallel spreadsheets Each area maintains its own Excel. ESAAB consolidates a single source of truth.
- Low visibility No one knows what will be missing tomorrow. ESAAB delivers dashboards, KPIs, and alerts that anticipate stockouts.
Five pillars, one platform
ESAAB is not a collection of disconnected modules, but a continuous flow from consumption to visibility:
- 01 Consumption at source Records supply usage where it actually occurs — box, workstation, point of use — without deferred data entry.
- 02 Automated replenishment Consumption and outflows are automatically converted into supply requirements based on rules and minimums.
- 03 Connected supply A single layer aligns laboratory, supplier, 3PL, and ERP. The order flows without re-keying data.
- 04 Assisted receiving Batch and expiration validation, reconciled against the purchase order, with reduced manual workload.
- 05 Visibility and alerts Operations become traceability, dashboards, and actionable alerts — before it's too late.

The connection layer
ESAAB integrates with ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, and Softland), with logistics operators (3PL), and with suppliers, using REST APIs and webhooks. Its role is to be the single operational source of truth that keeps consumption, replenishment, and receiving aligned in real time, without requiring changes to the systems the institution already uses.
